Will the world ever end?

I think the world is ending all the time. I think it ends when someone gets fed up with traffic or they lose their job and all hope or it ends when something so tragic and terrible happens that they just can’t imagine carrying on. I think we each have our own world and while we only ever see a version of the world played out in culture around us from a really big, high-up point of view, the way we experience the world is as individuals. So I think for millions of us, the world is ending all the time, it just doesn’t make the nightly news. It’s also important to remember that in a way, the world is starting all the time as well. People are hanging on just a little bit longer than they thought they could and discovering something new about themselves. Someone is reaching out for an opportunity and discovering another hand reaching back to grab them. Someone is just taking a deep breath and deciding to try again tomorrow. None of those things that are happening, and are always happening, make the nightly news either. And it’s good to remember that.
